Angie's Sweater, C'est Fini!

I finished Angela's sweater last night! It's a Jared Flood design called Tinder. I've been warned about Jared Flood patterns from a couple of the knit night ladies who ended up with knitting disasters, but this sweater turned out great.

I wish I had a photo of Ang wearing the sweater because it looks A LOT better on her than it does on me. For instance, the buttons don't bust open...because it fits her properly.

Christmas Dress

A few years ago I was given this beautiful emerald green raw silk. A year after it was given to me, I decided to make myself a dress out of it for my company Christmas party. Two years after that, it's finally finished! It's pretty over the top and probably inappropriate for any occasion other than a Christmas function - so I'll be wearing it for the next 30 hours straight. I'm pretty damn proud of it. It makes me want to make MORE! MORE! MORE! pretty dresses.

The pattern is from Vogue.

These photos from Photo Booth are the best I could do without a camera.

Voila!

Have a very Merry Christmas!

Forever Infinity Scarf

I have been working on this infinity scarf FOREVER and tonight I FINALLY FINISHED IT! A few months ago I was working on it in a restaurant and I told the server that I was going to finish it by December or trash it. Well guess what? It's December 1st and I'm finished baby!! I can't believe I actually made one of my deadlines. This never happens. I mean, I should have finished it a month after I started it two years ago, but hey, it's done now and I'm so happy - because it's very pretty and soft and  it's cold outside.

Not only that, but I've finished sleeves for Angie's sweater. All I have to do now is seam up the sweater and knit the collar and button band. That should only take me three evenings of prime time tv knitting. I'm pumped.

Tomorrow I hope to get my loom set up, stay tuned!

Technology! And More Tea Towel Prep

Here's a super boring video - that is also way too long - of me measuring out 20 (of 410) warp ends on my warping mill. Yes, counting out 20 threads just took me 5 minutes.

Basically, I just discovered iMovie on my fancy new laptop and decided to actually utilize this super cool piece of technology that I have.

I must say, I'm a bit disappointed at how poor the quality turned out once it was converted to a youtube video. I definitely still have some learning to do.

Colour Play

Trying out some colour combos for tea towels. Should be tidying up for our dinner guests.

Pillows

Here are the finished pillow cases. I stayed up till 2 am on Thursday night making them.

Always party time at Channy's!

Tea Towels, Pillow Covers

Okay, so I still have a sweater and a cowl and a quilt to finish, but I just bought some organic cotton to start some tea towels on the loom! I also just went out and got fabric to whip up some throw cushion covers. Hope to get the covers done by tomorrow!

Halloween

Two Saturdays ago I decided to be super ambitious and make myself a costume on the same day I intended to wear it. The subject: Daenerys Targaryen - from the last scene in season one. I sewed myself up a nude suit and got one dragon made. I'm pretty proud of it but wish I could have completed the other two dragons. I also wish I could have worn it more than once. I'm sure the nude suit will come in handy again some time down the road :-)

Garden Eviction

Some kind of crappy news... the company that manages our apartment building informed us that we are to move everything off our roof-top, or they will dispose of it... by tomorrow.
I wanted to fight it, but who am I to say that our planters aren't ruining the roof? And in a way, it's a bit of a relief. I'm pretty lazy by nature and not having a garden to tend to in the summer will allow me to take off on mini vacations without worrying that my garden will suffer...or something. :(

So Darcy and I spent 4 hours today hauling everything off the roof and sweeping up mud in the rain. Sounds terrible, but it was actually pretty fun. And now everything is so clean and tidy! I'm looking forward to maximizing the space we have on our downstairs deck in the spring.

Here are some in-progress photos of the big deck clean:

Me getting muddy...and staging a photo with props...(nerd!)

A view of the chaos on our deck from the roof-top

And here is the last of what was growing in the garden!

Peach Hot Sauce

Last month a friend in the Okanagan gave us a bunch of peaches from their tree. Most of them were so ripe they had to be frozen immediately. Usually my freezer is a black hole, what goes in never comes out - edible anyway. I couldn't let these awesome peaches go to waste! I don't have (much of) a sweet tooth, so I wanted to try making something other than cobbler or jam. The result is my very first attempt at canning. It's been a quick and rewarding experience. Can't wait to give the hot sauce a try.

Angie's Sweater In Progress

I've started the sleeves on Angie's sweater that I started exactly one year ago!!

Oh ya...

Dug out this cowl today that I started TWO years ago. Common Chantelle, get it together!

I love it so much, I have to finish it so I can finally wear it.

Fall Quilt, A Quilt for Me

Sooo...we don't really have a comforter for our bed. We've got a collection of small blankets, a giant, ugly comforter from Darcy's bachelor days (can I throw it out already?!) and a super heavy and warm feather duvet for that's just perfect for Vancouver's sub-zero winter nights (not).

I've made a couple of quilts and it's been very hard to give them away. I think it's time that I make myself a special quilt. Something not too big, not too small and just warm enough.

I chose the Swoon Quilt by Camille Roskelley. It's so darn pretty! I went down to The Cloth Shop on Granville Island on Wednesday and blew a bunch of money on fabric. The ladies working in this shop are hilarious and awesome. It was a good experience.

Here's what I chose:

It's going to be very light and fresh! Lots of white and cream with little pops of green. I can't wait to get started.

In other crafty news, knit night is back after a one year hiatus! I joined my gal pals Priscilla and Jen over at Amber's place last night. It's great to feel so inspired to pick up my knitting again after losing interest for so long. The gals are feeling it too. We're pumped! Photo's coming soon of my sweater-in-progress.

Summer Summary

So I've been a terrible blogger this summer, but I have been busy crafting and gardening and organizing. Forgive the crappy photos, our cameras we're stolen when we had a break-in back in June!

Here's what I've been up to:

I cleaned out the clutter from our closet down stairs and created a place to hang our bikes

I made my niece an adorable top!

We got the garden up and running after taking a year off

And I made a wedding quilt for two very special friends

Also, I just got a loom!! I've very excited about it. I just pulled my first project off the loom on Tuesday. It takes awhile to set up, but once you get weaving it's so fast and fun.

See you soon! I promise.

BBQ Bunting

We've thrown a couple big BBQs in our back parking lot. Darcy and Todd did all the cookin' and food prep and I did this:

Our next BBQ is coming up in late June, this time with a special edition - spot prawns! - along side your old faves. Hope to see you there!

So, it's been awhile. But hey, spring always brings renewed inspiration, so, here are my goals and pending projects for the remainder of 2012!

HBD Jane

I went to JJ's 2nd birthday party last night. I tried super hard to get this little number done in time for the party, but I failed. Big surprise! Always with the last minute projects...

I finished it today though, and Jane came over to pick it up in the afternoon. It fits!
